Today my PC made some updates and now I have new Windows Live 2011. Now my Windows Live Messenger is connected to Facebook account. Also, I noticed one interesting add in Microsoft website: how to embed Power Point in Blog. http://blogs.office.com/b/office_blog/archive/2010/09/24/say-more-in-your-blog-with-embedded-powerpoint-and-excel-files.aspx I read it and now right away I'll try embed Power Point into my blog post. Here you go :)
Personally I think embedding power points into blog is a good idea. I already imagine how I could use this feature in my teaching. When I ask students to write their reflections in their blogs, they can also share their power point presentations too. For example, they could reflect on their presentations made on other classes proving the power point presentations and discuss what went good and what went wrong. Their groupmates could comment saying, "I especially liked slide 4 in your power point", etc.
Perhaps, some of you already knew about it, because this information was posted in Microsoft page in September 24, 2010. I found out about it just 3 hours ago, and possibly there are some people who might not know about it yet. So I decided to share it with you too. I hope you find it useful :)
Best,
Shahnoza

Shahnoza my dear!
ReplyDeleteI just loved your blog!I just get so overjoyed when I read something and I actually get something overly beneficial out of it!I can't start imagining my students' excitement when I tell them about embedding power point in their blogs...to tell you the truth I had no idea about it either. However, few weeks back I gave my students an assignment (listening) where each brought in a favorite song with the lyrics, and had to explain later on why it was their favorite song. One outstanding student presented her song on power point making a very decent compact clip of all her classmates and relating her favorite song and the lyrics to be placed on power point as 1 unified video clip. Now I know how I can show her work's true attire!
Keep it up!
Thank you,
Eugenie

ReplyDeleteHi Shahnoza,
ReplyDeleteYour Avatar welcome message is just great!! What a good idea!! Although I have not used Avatar myself yet, I was familiar with it. Actually, the head of the department where I work used Avatar to make an invitation for a workshop for teachers some time ago. It was really fun and the tool itself called everybody's attention!
Aside from that, I really liked your embedded power point presentation in this blog. It's very neat and complete. I also knew about this feature since we usually upload power point or Prezi presentations into the Academic Blog at the Alianza. By the way, the link to our Academic Blog is going to be one of my bookmarks in my "Delicous" page in case you'd like to visit it.
Still, I think you did great at sharing this tip and its possible application in the classroom. The way you are planning to use it with your students is interesting. You'll help them develop their critical thinking skills by having them evaluate the content of their respective power point presentations. Besides, you'll be adding a new motivating element for them to work with their blogs.
You're becoming a real techie! Keep at it!!
Best regards,
Margarita
